This places service is good. The sushi is pretty good. It's JUST WAY pricey and it's not some classy joint either. If it was even SLIGHTLY cheaper, like a dollar fifty less per roll, it would deserve five stars. But for their prices I guess I expect more. But it's in the District and there isn't any other sushi around. So you go here. You go here on a Sunday morning...hung over, and order 3 bottles of sake. You drink them and you think to yourself, "hey, didn't my grandfather to war with the Japanese in World War II?" Then you order another bottle of sake and 4 more rolls. 160 bucks later you stumble out and get a burger from Red Robin.

Went here yesterday and I usually love it, but it has been a couple months since my last visit. The place was dead. There was one lady picking up a small take out order And us two. The waitress is awful, she insisted on taking our order without writing anything down, short order style, but two minutes later had to come verify our very simple order. A few minutes later we heard her do the same thing to the only other couple who came in while we were there. Time to start writing things down! The food was bad, partially cooked chicken in the chicken bowl. The sushi tasted like the fish wasn't fresh, maybe because of aging stock and dwindling patronage. I won't be back here again, after many visits and years of patronage.

Horrid service times. There were LOOONG periods of time where we had to wait. food was well done but never going back because of service times.

Great food and ambiance. Good for date nights. Main dishes as well as sushi were excellent. If you're ordering sushi with a main dish, expect to be a bit pricey. Great location and trendy on the inside. We've gone here for a double date and would definitely go again. Can feel a bit cramped and noisy on the weekends.

Great food, but a bit expensive. Spent over $125 for just 3 people eating. Friendly staffs and great customer services. Worth the try.

Nice service but not good sushi... Was not greasy and the calimari rings were frozen....yuk. won't be back.

The sushi here is fantastic, a little pricey but worth it! But their servers are really, really bad, we have been going here for about 3 years and its never been exceptional. The service needs to reflect how good their rolls are, the management needs to be more picky with who they hire and how they train their staff.

I came here a while back on a weeknight with my cousin. The interior of the place is decorated nicely and very clean. Our waitress was friendly and the pace of the service was decent. The food, however, wasn't great. The sushi here is what I like to call "Paula Dean Sushi". Nearly every roll either has some sort of friend element or is loaded down with mayo and sickeningly sweet sauces (some of the rolls come with both!). For me, my favorite sushi rolls are simple, with little flair that really lets the quality of the fish come through. Here I found myself scraping mayo off of my rolls so I could actually taste the fish. If you're looking for REALLY good sushi in Utah, it's worth the trip downtown to Takashi where the rolls always taste fresh and the menu is more diverse.

Sushi is sub par. There are a lot of deep fried rolls on the menu that just have imitation crab meat in them with some tobiko on top. The rolls that are not deep fried don't have an abundance of fish in them. Basically California rolls with smoked salmon or tuna, and they want top dollar for them. Service is hit and miss, and the waitresses or waiters expect a tip with crappy service. I prefer sakana in Jordan landing. More fresh sushi rolls to choose from, and only two deep fried rolls on the menu.

Came here on a Sunday for lunch, and .. well, let me just describe it. There was 1 guy on the wait staff - that's it. So you can imagine when people started rolling in by the table fulls, he'd go to the back to get food/drinks, leaving people to wait alone at the front door - one couple even straight up left because they waited too long. Not cool. Anywho, the food took a little while to come out but when it did (coconut shrimp, hot night roll, ecstacy, south jordan roll), it was GOOD. Like, 4 stars good. So, why the 3 stars? The water refill took about 10-20 minutes to get, and I had to flag down the waiter to get any water at all. Recap - food is pretty darn good. Service, meh. But if you're in the area, might as well - right?

On a Sunday evening my wife was craving sushi, Problem was we're in the Suburbs of Salt lake on a Sunday late afternoon no sushi joints gonna be open right ? Wrong it was and we were thankful. It's located right at the district in front if the theaters, we were seated promptly and the rolls were decent but the seaweed wrap in the sushi itself seemed a little bit unfresh, meaning it was to rubbery. The waitress also informed us they maybe out of rice soon so no guarantees. We understood because we were an hour to closing. The ambience was chill, they had an outside patio that looked nice. So for the location, casualness and just ok sushi and ok service they'll get between 3.5 stars.. Since there's no 3.5 stars I'll round it up because I'm a nice guy.

I went to the Blue Fish tonight, with a large group for a friends birthday, and the staff was helpful in accommodating everyone. I tried a bunch of different rolls, including the Snow White, Popcorn, Spicy Tuna, South Jordan, and the Crunchy Dragon. The Snow white was by far the best, everything in this roll is cooked, so it would be a great option for someone a little less adventurous in the sushi world. The Popcorn was also really great, the "popcorn" is little balls of deep fried scallions. Their Spicy Tuna was also really simple and tasty, a good classic. The spicy mayo and eel sauce top of the majority of their specialty rolls and it really brings the whole dish together and is super delicious. The restaurant had a nice serene, relaxing vibe. Dim lighting and low music in the background. Good sushi and good service.

The Blue Fish was an unexpected culinary delight. Nestled amongst shops in The District shopping center, Blue Fish delivers flavors that are extremely uncommon anywhere in Utah. I had the Teriyaki Salmon (with Vegetable Tempura, Rice) in a combo (with Miso Soup, Ginger Dressing Salad--both absolutely delicious!), plus Coconut Prawns. My Wife had the Korean BB Ribs, and my daughter ate the Orange Chicken (with Tempura, Rice), and also in the combo. My Salmon was superb. The Teriyaki was balanced properly, and the salmon itself was crispy on the outside and moist and perfectly cooked on the inside. The Orange Chicken was incredible, without being coated in the orange sauce you find in so many Chinese restaurants. My wife loved the Korean BBQ Ribs, downing the entire plate of them pretty much by herself. The flavors of all our dishes were perfectly balanced and evoked the many restaurants I ate at in Seattle's China Town as I grew up. To put it bluntly, the food and cuisine were very un-Utah-like, and our meal was nothing short of superb! The ONLY knock I will list is the waiting time. There are no reservations, so tables are given on a waiting list. The staff failed to seat guests properly on the waiting list. We were told 15-20 minutes. However, after just over an hour we were finally seated, while several tables were seated ahead of us that came in long after we had arrived. This definitely needs to be addressed by the FOH (Front of House) Staff. The restaurant also carries a full range of Sushi, Sashimi and other freshly prepared Japanese offerings. (I personally can't eat these due to an allergy to MSG (in the seaweed) and due to my status on the kidney transplant list.)

i was originally planning on going to tsunami for lunch on sunday, but unfortunately once we arrived they were closed (fail on my part - always check hours on sundays!). after frantically searching through yelp (i was super hungry) for about 10 minutes trying to find a sushi place that was open we found blue fish. after calling to confirm that yes they were open (i was not about to make the same mistake twice) we headed over. when we arrived there were only two other tables and the service started off great. by the end they had gotten quite busy (10 tables full) with only one server. i felt so bad for her as she was seriously running around, but she managed to still take care of us and provide good service. +1 star for that. on to the food now. so they didn't have a gluten free menu, but i managed to find stuff that i could eat. besides the basic rolls, practically all of their specialty rolls are fried or have tempura. they were able to modify some of the rolls by eliminating the imitation crab and having the sauce on the side which i appreciated. i tried to order uni nigiri, but they had run out the previous night. after eating the sushi i was thankful that they no longer had uni cause i doubt the quality would have been good. most of the rolls were just ehh and definitely overpriced. i ordered a custom made cucumber roll and it came out to $14 which is about the same price as one at takashi. yes takashi is way better than this place so maybe they should knock the prices down a bit. the other roll i ordered, south district, was also $13 and it was not good at all. when i ate it there was a weird texture in it and i thought it was a toothpick or something, but turns out it was carrots. who puts carrots in sushi? that was odd. it did not work for sushi. my two cousins thought their rolls (playboy, popcorn, the district, snow white, etc.) were okay also and overall we were not impressed. most of my cousins' rolls were covered with so much sauce which is probably how they cover up the taste of the fish (not fresh maybe?). i really wish there were more sushi places open for lunch on sundays. i actually did get sick a few hours after eating here so i question the quality of their raw fish. it could have been an off day for them, but i don't like to take chances with my sensitive stomach. so if you eat here maybe stick with cooked rolls/fish just to be safe.

I love the Heart Attack appetizer. It is 3 stuffed jalapeño peppers with spicy tuna then deep fried and sliced and topped with 2 tasty sauces. I get this every time I come. Some of their sushi is overpriced, but my kids like their kid meals ( especially the chicken teriyaki and the Yaki soba noodles).

I gave Blue Fish another shot tonight due to its vicinity to the movie theater and a big craving for Japanese food. I was very pleasantly surprised. In an almost complete 180-degree turnaround from my last experience, the service was surprisingly prompt, pleasant, and the food was very good. It's still a dollar or two more than most places close-by, but unlike last time the service and quality made it completely worth it. Call it working out the kinks. Call it bad luck on my first visit. Either way, my opinion is changed. I will be back.

No stars for this place; won't go back. For the price you pay, you might as well be at a sushi buffet and pay half the price for the same thing. Everything was saturated in sauce... Everything was very mushy!!! The flavor came more from the massive amount of sauce than anything else. Don't waste your time or money.

Love coming to blue fish. Great food and service. The party boat and the district roll are two of my favorites to get when we come here. Little on the expensive side but seems like the food is better quality!

Fast and friendly service. I was a little nervous given the hit or miss reviews, but both appetizer, entree, and sushi were delicious. I say this as a veteran sushi goer. My only complaint would be the family of fruit flies that seemed determined to partake of our sake.

Highly recommend. The menu includes some great choices for groups with non sushi eaters. The sushi is fantastic. The Ecstasy is a really good choice. Tempura veggies for an appetizer is a great choice with kids. The yukatory has some of everything and the flavor is great. Great service and a good atmosphere. My only dislike was the seaweed salad. I would not get that again. Cumcumber salad might get overlooked but i would higly recommend. Dont pass this place up if your close by.

We had pot stickers and a couple different rolls. The ecstasy roll and the Alba-mic roll. Both were excellent. Going back today for the pot stickers and a couple new rolls. Love this place, highly recommend!

This place is not bad on a Sunday, when you can have it mostly to yourself and park in front of one of the tvs. It is very clean and the service is usually quite decent. We didn't experience any kind of crazy wait time at all and were able to repeatedly add extra stuff with no hassle. The food is average to good, nothing stellar, but nothing bad, either. The problems come with the cost. Apparently, this is in some sort of outdoor mall thing and consequently, the prices are higher, but there is no corresponding increase to value particularly, so you're paying more solely for higher overhead on the part of the business. If you want to finance that, good on ya, but I can't say that's my thing. The sushi would have to be a lot better to justify that kind of pricing and frankly, as this is a fusion place, it just doesn't rise to that level and is not much beyond a perpetual 50% off place like Rice or Red Ginger. This is the kind of spot I would consider if I happened to be by it and had a craving, but in no way would any future visit by me be intentional.

My favorite sushi places are in Seattle and Coronado, but for Utah this place is pretty damn good. Very casual and friendly atmosphere, and I haven't had a roll yet that I didn't like. Fun for a casual date night if you're on this end of the valley.

Ok, yeah, the price is what it is, but are you really looking for cheap eats when you want to have sushi? Near this area there is only one other place I know of and it isn't as good. I had the super spicy shrimp roll special. It was fabulous. It definitely delivered a level of spicy to be expected while still offering great flavor. It was surprisingly balanced. Impressive. Also we got the "famous bento box" and selected teriyaki salmon, chicken katsu, and tempura shrimp/veggies which were all super delicious. Their staff on Saturday afternoon was very friendly and prompt, so I really have no complaints

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I live downtown SLC but it's definitely worth the drive to South Jordan, fight for tight parking and deal with teenager crowds hanging around the movie theater. Love all the rolls I have tried, even my toddler loved the spicy tuna roll! I asked how much would it be to order just some tuna without the spicey sauce on it (my son's cheeks were getting too red) and the sushi chef sent a little plate with some chopped up tuna, just for him. Said it was on the house. So thoughtful! My son loved it. We also love the eel sauce, and we always order a side of it to dip all our rolls on it. I'm surprised the reviews are not so great. It's always sad when other people don't seem to enjoy a place you love so much. I have come here several times and every single time I had good service and excellent food. I've never ordered anything but sushi or sashimi though. Maybe the hot plates are not so "hot"? Don't know. But based on my own experience I definitely recommend you stop by and try all the specialty rolls!

I've been here a few times now. Every time was a good experience with very few exceptions. Their sushi is very good and fresh. I've tried different ones every time I've gone and haven't found one I haven't liked. The service was good and they checked on us the perfect amount - not too much it's annoying but enough to fill the drink glasses. The spacing can get a bit cramped if it's a busy night. I'd suggest requesting one of the few booths in the corner. It's much more comfortable and plenty of room for all the food I always order. Only down side I've seen so far is "no public bathroom." How I see that is they have one - just don't want anyone to use it.

The food has been adequate. Sometimes really good, other times not as much. The last time we had dinner we overheard the waitress telling another table about a new coffee enema deal she was trying out. . . I about fell off my chair. Trust me, I see the humor in life, but this one was too much even for me. Then to top it off, the same waitress managed to lose my credit card for 20 minutes. She caught me on the way back from the rest room and said, Im really sorry, but I can't find your CC. . . seriously!?!? Another waiter finally found it using the flashlight on his cell phone under the kitchen counters. The waitress had the nerve to say "sorry for the wait" instead of offering an apology. Good bye blue fish.

Delicious sushi! My friends and I bought a variety of rolls, which I can't remember! A couple of them were the Crunchy Dragon Roll, and the Firecracker. I would say all the rolls we had were very fresh and creatively well made. The rolls were a decent sizes. But after 8 rolls serving the 5 of us, I think we still wanted more! The customer service here was excellent. The waiter always filled up our water when he saw it nearing empty. Another bonus that I don't experience often was the place playing some KPOP (Korean Pop) music, which I'm a fan of. So, if you're looking for some good sushi and hoping to hear some T-Ara while you chow on them, come over to Blue Fish!

I enjoy going to Blue Fish with family and friends. The best server is Lani. My favorite entree, the boat, especially when you want a variety of food and can't make up your mind as to what to eat. Excellent service, outstanding food, being with family and friends - priceless.

I LOOOOOOOOOVE this place. Best sushi ever, hands down. This is such a cute sushi place! You won't be disappointed with whichever roll you get. They are all fresh and you can see your roll being made at the bar. I went in just the other day after a movie, it was still busy with maybe 4-5 tables left. Our rolls came out in less than 10 minutes. The service was phenomenal! The waiter came by quiet often, not often to the point it was annoying, always filled up our glassed even if we weren't low, always checked to see how we like our rolls and if we're happy. I've had a few of their rice dishes, and BOY. Those are yummy as well. Now, I love ice cream. Especially Mochi Ice Cream. The plate nicely presentable. The cook made palm trees out of the ice cream. As soon as we ordered this, a minute later, it was on our table. It was soooo good. The prices are pricy...but this place makes it totally worth it. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to eat great, delicious sushi.

Amazing steak dinner combo and there was tons of food. We sat 7 with a 2 minute wait, I saw some negative comments about that but didn't have the same experience. Service was good, and food was great. Followed the tip about the heart attack appetizer and it was a great tip.

They have placards on the table about how they've changed lots of things. it's very evident. On the advice of a patron at the theater next door, we decided to give it another shot. It was better on this visit. There were new items on the menu and the staff was very attentive. It does seem like they've taken the criticism to heart and they're working on it. As a former business owner, I appreciate the work they've put into it. We'll be back to see if it continues to improve.

Came here with a couple co workers for lunch. We each ordered a geisha bowl and split a couple sushi rolls. The service was great and the food tasty. My only complaint is that the rice was a touch on the dry side, which makes it a little difficult to gracefully eat sushi with chopsticks! But I'd definitely come back if I ever find myself needing a lunchtime sushi fix!

Service was very poor. Never got water refills, dirty soup and salad bowls were never taken off the table, the food took forever to arrive and when it did I had a hair in my rice and couldn't get the waitresses attention to tell her for 10 min. This was on a Sunday and it wasn't busy. She did say sorry I can get you new rice but at that point I wasn't too hungry anymore. They did take 10% off my meal [whoopie :( ]. I would not recommend tis place.

I've been to this restaurant a couple times and have thought it was okay, not great. Went back last night since we were seeing a movie at The District and got there at around 4:40. The server asked us what we wanted to drink (my husband, my daughter and myself) - my husband and I ordered a beer and a glass of wine and my daughter ordered a coke. The server returned to our table with the coke and told us she wouldn't bring us our alcohol until we ordered food. I thought that was strange, but ok.. I saw a card on the table with a 'special' that started at 5pm and since now it was 4:50 I asked if we could order the special. She asked the 'manager' who was behind the sushi bar chatting with other servers (we were the only patrons) and she came back and said "No you can't because the computer is programmed to start the special at 5". All I could think is that she really must have thought we were idiots! So I said to her "You won't bring us our drinks so that we can have something until 5 o'clock hits?" She said "No, it's restaurant policy". Wow. So I said we would pay for the coke and go somewhere else, which we did, and I was happy to spend my money elsewhere and will never go back.. One star for the so-so meals I've had in the past..

The atmosphere is pretty boring. The restaurant has always been dead when I have been here. The prices seem a bit high for the quality of the food. I really wonder if this place is going to survive. The rolls are especially over priced, even during the lunch hour. I'm not cheap and the prices seem high so I can understand why the place is dead. The food was really not that interesting. Typical suburban sushi rolls. The service was sub-par, and we were the only people in the restaurant. Maybe this place is just too far out of the way.

I went here for lunch just before watching a movie. The location is perfect if you are planning on seeing a movie afterwards. The decor and atmosphere of the restaurant is very modern and quite pleasant. I ordered 3 rolls and the person I was with ordered a lunch special. For the lunch special you get lots of food for the price (about $13) which includes a salad, miso soup, California roll, cooked salmon, tempura vegetables, and rice. I was surprised to see how much he got for the price, because my rolls were more expensive in comparison. I tried the tempura and it was very tasty. It reminded me of the tempura I cook at home. The three rolls I got came to about $40 which seems a bit pricy to me. However, the sushi was pretty good. The presentation of the rolls was decent. The flavors had a very good mix of salty, spicy, and sweet to them. The one problem I had was that the portions seemed a little small for the price. The rolls were as long as any sushi restaurant, but they were lacking in girth. I have been to many sushi restaurants in the valley, as well as in Provo, that serve larger rolls for a little bit less. Even Takashi downtown is a little bit cheaper, which seems odd. They even have a roll called "Strawberry Fields" which I've only ever seen at Takashi. Overall the sushi was good, but they should make them a bit larger and possibly charge a little bit less for the sushi. If you want a good value for your money go for the lunch special.

We have eaten here on several occasions. Our experiences have varied. Come early in the week and it is a quiet quaint little Sushi joint with some great entrées and a fairly good selection of sushi but unless you order a spicier roll expect a rather bland offering. Come on a weekend and you will descend into chaos. About fifty percent of what I ordered I'd order again, and about five percent of that I'd remember by name. I like the deep fried soft shell crab they have on the appetizer menu. My kids love these sodas that are sealed with a marble and will beg us to go over other joints just for that. A very wise server introduced them to our children on the house the first time we were there and now they are hooked. The wait staff is friendly and courteous. We have had to flag them down a few times and they struggled remember who ordered what. If you go on a busy night expect a wait, and depending on whom the hostess is expect to be seated at her convenience. They would also do well hiring a hostess staff old enough to serve drinks. On the whole the food is three stars. The ambiance is four and a half (except they are keeping two goldfish in a small container in the front. Their gills were hemorrhagic due to nitrogen burn. They need a much bigger tank.) The Bathrooms are five. The wait staff two and a half. This is a great place for a Monday through Wednesday evening out with kids and friends.

Oh boy...showed up here for a meeting with a client, the first thing the host says is 'the chef isn't here, so we can only serve sushi...' This being a sushi restaurant, you would think it's not a problem, but this also included teriyaki anything, edamame (come on, you don't know how to use a microwave??) and anything warm... Two stars for the sushi being ok, -4 stars for not having any options for food...ridiculous!

We found the atmosphere at Blue Fish nice, the service good, and the food very tasty. We went later on a weeknight, and we were two of eight people in the place. It's not large and would have a hard time accommodating groups beyond 8-10 people. They had a nice sushi menu, which, as it turned out, made me glad we didn't order appetizers. Of their specialty offerings, we tried the Snow White roll, the Sunkist Roll (my favorite), and the Atomic Bomb roll. All were pretty good. Their pricing did seem somewhat higher than most. Regular rolls run 9.95-14.95 and specialty rolls are in the 12.95-16.95 range. Overall, not our favorite sushi, but we'll go back when we're in the neighborhood.

I think it's important to update reviews from time to time based on your latest experiences. I had initially given Blue Fish a 3 star review. That was based on several average experiences. Recently, I don't think that Blue Fish deserves 3 stars. In fact, based on my last experience, I think 2 stars is more appropriate. I stopped by last Saturday on my way to the movies. I ordered a sashimi plate to go. The sashimi taste test is the moment of truth for a Japanese restaurant. Your fish can't hide behind rice, seaweed, and sauces. Needless to say, the fish was awful. In fact, I've had better fish from a Wal-mart deli. The portions were tiny - not even sure it would qualify as an appetizer by most standards. The real kick in the pants was the price tag. A small sashimi plate with a side order of edamame came to over $20. I don't mind paying $20+ for good sashimi, but when you serve up Wal-mart quality sushi, you need to adjust your prices accordingly. I thought about giving this place 1 star based on my last experience, but I had to balance my opinion with my previous visits. I can't even give a passive recommendation to this place anymore. It's unfortunate, because the South end of the valley could really use more unique dining experiences

The place was packed on the night we went. Other reviewers have said service was slow on a slow night - it was a little chaotic on a busy night. But on to the food. Not nearly the freshest sushi in the valley, but it tasted alright. I thought the chef's did a good job at attempting different mixes of flavors, but unfortunately it didn't make up for lack of quality fish. For what they charge here, I expected a lot better.

Very good food, but it leans toward the expensive side of the spectrum for what you get. Agedashi tofu ($6.25) was great...a neat little pile of tender little, perfectly fried pillows of tofu served separate from a tasty bowl of broth, a little saucer of chili sauce, and a little condiments dish of scallions, bonito flakes, and grated ginger. Delicious. Miso soup was also a credible version at $2.25 each. Specialty roll standouts include the Snow White Roll (baked lobster, tempura onion, avocado topped w/ escolar, chopped jalapeno, chili sauce, and spicy mayo) for $14.95, and the Sunkist roll (spicy tuna and cucumber topped w/ salmon, avocado, thin lemon slices, and sunkist sauce) for $12.95. The rolls are a wee bit on the small side, though, despite their hefty price. Overall, though the service was very friendly and the food was quite tasty, we did leave feeling just a tad hungry.

I don't understand the low rating for this place. I had the Southern Comfort Roll and the seaweed/squid salad and both were delicious. They put tempura flakes on the inside of this roll instead of on top and I really liked it, it was almost like biting into a cracker. The crab salad had almost no mayo in it which is one thing I look for in a sushi resturant. Service was good. I will be back.

My friends raved about this place.... Maybe an off night. We ate after a movie about 4:00. The hostess gave my kids the kid's menu, but when they went to order from it, we were told that's just the lunch menu, and no kids dinner menu available. (Ummm, ok???) Menu said iced tea, but they didn't have iced tea. Just weird stuff like that... We asked for no avocado (I'm allergic), but had to send back our sushi because it all came with avocado. And they use SO MUCH SAUCE. All in all, I'd say "meh!", I've had better, flavor-wise, and bad service overall. Really a "we could care less " atmosphere/vibe.

I came back and tried this place again. I am sorry but I am not a fan of this place at all. I will give the servers a thumbs up but the food is nothing to rave about. For the price I paid I would much rather go to to wing nutz or red robin OR better yet Takashi. I tried the rolls the server suggested and they were sub par at the very least. My date had the salmon which seemed like it was microwaved or overcooked. Avoid if possible.

  • Christian V.

Mediocre sushi. The fish did not taste fresh nor did it look colorful. The rolls were tight enough not to fall apart however the rice tasted undercooked. There were a couple of flies buzzing around the restaurant as well which to me was not the best of signs. Location is fantastic as it is right next to my beloved district theaters. The only redeeming quality was our waitress, who was quite good.

Ok Place but I really didn't care for the music, or the football on TV detracting me from my evening. I would go to a sportsbar for that. Sushi is ok but they use imitation crab and I find it hard to eat. Took a while to get a roll and the place was dead and I was at the sushi bar.

Tried once, never again. This is actually a nice place. Decent service, inviting location, good decor and great patio. Unfortunately, the poor food overshadows everything else. Everything we had (various sushi rolls, tempura, teriyaki chicken), was below par. Just not very fresh, not very good. Worst of all, you pay through the nose for it. Prices are equal, if not greater, than the best sushi places downtown, which have food that is in an entirely different league than this. I don't understand how this place stays in business. There's no way they're creating many repeat customers.

I need to start by saying that I hate sushi (I lived in Japan for 4 years and I guess I've just had my fill...or I just don't like eating raw fish). However, my husband loves it and since I think he's okay, I go to sushi bars -- the good news? The Blue Fish, like most sushi restaurants, has tempura and noodles on their menu. We've eaten there 4 times and each time we were either the only couple in the place, or one of 2 or 3 -- hopefully this just signals that we went at off times; I'd like to see them succeed. The tempura is good; the rice and miso are great (yeah, not difficult dishes, but I've had runny rice and horrible miso before). Not the best sushi my husband has ever had, but for convenience, certainly not the worst. The servers have always been exceptionally polite and attentive without being annoying. If the restaurant makes it, I think it's a good alternative in South Jordan -- or you can hit Applebees or Red Robin -- and get yourself a balloon.

This is one of my favorite sushi bars in all of Salt Lake Valley... and I've tried almost all of them! The atmosphere is great, the service is top-notch, and the sushi is delicious. If you have a chance, try the Ecstacy Roll... it lives up to it's name! My husband and I are regulars, and go there as often as possible.

The sushi here is fantastic, a little pricey but worth it! But their servers are really, really bad, we have been going here for about 3 years and its never been exceptional. The service needs to reflect how good their rolls are, the management needs to be more picky with who they hire and how they train their staff.

Sushi was not remarkable. Plain. Service was slow even on a slow night. No water refilled. Entrees came out at different times and the server blamed it on the sushi chefs even though only 2 dishes were actually sushi. Cashier had no idea how to use the coupon from their own website. There are better sushi places around.

I've been to the Blue Fish several times and the food is incredible!!! In fact, Blue Fish is the reason I love sushi so much now. Alas, I will never go again due to the horrible service Justin provided tonight. From the moment we sat down his arrogance rubbed us the wrong way. I ordered a diet coke that I finally cancelled after 45 minutes because he never brought it!! In fact he neaver brought any of the 7 beverages that were ordered. When he finally got around to bringing us 2 of the 3 dishes of edamame, we had been sitting there for an hour. My son had to visit several empty tables and rounded up 7 of the soy dishes since our server neglected to bring those as well. When the wonderful but noticibly smaller sushi was delivered 2 of the guests were still waiting for their salads. One arrived before we had finished our sushi and the other one arrived after we had finished and he ate his salad while we were waiting for the bill. It's a travesty to see a restaurant with such a great product be ruined by poor help and poor service.

My date had the salmon which seemed like it was microwaved or overcooked. Avoid if possible.

Just okay. Not an expert in this cuisine but still, just okay. Service was just okay too. Crowded weekend date night atmosphere. Not bad - I'm just sayin'......

I love this place! A bit pricey, but hands down the best sushi and rolls in Salt Lake City area.

WEAK. The sushi tasted watered down. The price was expensive and the sushi just was not that good.

Fast and friendly service. I was a little nervous given the hit or miss reviews, but both appetizer, entree, and sushi were delicious. I say this as a veteran sushi goer. My only complaint would be the family of fruit flies that seemed determined to partake of our sake.

This place was good. It was a typical sushi place. Nothing to out if this world. But the food was good. I would go back, for a bite before a movie.

Its really good. Pricing is not bad at all. My favorite is the snow white roll. Try it, it'll blow your mind off. Try it with saki. They have this hot saki that only bluefish does it

Loved every second here. Looked it up on Yelp...decided to give it a go. Visiting from out of town. Tried the Ecstasy based on other reviews (it was OK), but the TNT was absolutely the BOMB!!! Highly recommend this place, service was spot on.
